I decided to do my blog about racism within puclic schools. It is an issue that everyone has to deal with weather there is a positive or negative outcome. It does not only affect the children that are attending public schools, it affects their parents and the communities that the schools and the students are a part of. I feel that racism in not only projected from one out group to another, it sometimes affects members of the same in group. This is a result of people being programmed to think that they should act a certain way or become a certain kind of person based on their color of skin.
During my own school career I attended many different schools all across the Seattle area, some were wealthier than others and some were located in predominantly white communities and others were not. With every school that I attended came a different experience, from having something in common with the large population of the school, to being one of the few colored students on the campus. I experienced racism from different people from different races, but I also expereinced if from people of my own race. All of our children should be able to obtain their education in a safe environment, but not based on what color they are.
